Why does anything exist?

This is something that has bothered me for quite some time. Yes, we have the laws of physics, but why do they exist? What is the cause of these laws? Why is there a universe? Why is anything here? Why is anything something and not nothing?

If you say "because this" ... and "this" is something, my follow up question is why does that exist. Why does the cause of the universe exist?

This question of "why is anything here?" keeps creeping up and there is no answer. The laws of physics don't say "this is why there are laws of physics" or "here is a cause of the laws of physics".

And let's please refrain from saying that I am looking for God when I'm just asking a question.
