So this happened to me 43 years ago - when I was 20 years old.

I gave birth to a full term baby girl - my first child ever. The sad thing is, the baby girl was a still born birth. I was so sad she never survived, but I was able to hold her in my arms for a few minutes and made some pictures of my first ever baby girl. The doctors and nurses said she didn't survive and I had to leave her behind. So they took her out of the delivery room. I guess they were going to do an autopsy on her.

But after a few hours, a doctor came to my room and told me that my baby girl suddenly layed on the table, started to move her arms and legs, sneezed a few times, opened her eyes and started to cry. They didn't understand what happened. Just a few hours ago they said she was dead.

The only thing they could think of was maybe oxygen deficiency. I had been given way too much labour anesthesia and baby girl didn't get enough oxygen, which caused her to be still born. They said it must have been a miracle and they have never experienced this before. Also, they said she was probably not technically dead, but in a deep coma. They said the chances of ever regaining consciousness were so extremely low, that it's basically a miracle.

I understand that my baby girl wasn't technically dead, but for me, she was dead.

My baby girl grew up all healthy. The doctors were afraid she would be born with brain damage, but she was a very healthy baby. She got a bit of an eye condition later on, but it had nothing to do with her still born.
