Netflix says it’s going to charge more for account sharing in early 2024<br><br>The company first warned users about sharing passwords in February 2023<br><br>Users who are discovered to be sharing their Netflix account illegally will be charged more to continue sharing their accounts from 2024 onwards, the company’s CEO has warned.<br><br>In an interview with the BBC, Greg Peters, CEO of Netflix, said that people who continued to use shared accounts would be charged more.<br><br>However, he did not specify how much more than the average user.<br><br>Previously, the company said that users who share accounts will be charged an additional fee, either by creating a new account or paying extra.<br><br>He said: “We're not going to charge everybody more, we're going to charge people that are sharing the account more.”<br><br>In February 2023, the company first warned users about sharing accounts, saying that household account sharing violates their terms of service. <br><br>Netflix claimed the illegal account sharing was costing them more than $1.8m per year.<br><br>The full interview will be available on BBC Radio 4’s Sunday Guest tomorrow at 7:10am.
