It's not okay to keep this woman from sitting at the gate for her flight.

My mother (age 74) is on a flight right now from Atlantic City to Montreal.

Usually she takes the bus but because of the holidays and issues with the bus company, she decided to fly. This airline she never used before, she took an Uber to the airport, and she didn't know that her carry on was too big.

So she walks up to the gate to check in and shows them her esky esky bag and the woman from the airline tells her that her bag is too big and she can't carry it nor check it in. Then she explains that she expects her to either throw it out, put everything in her purse and leave it at the gate or go back to the baggage claim to check it in.

Then my mother came to me in a panic and told me what happened. I was like "no, somebody has to put it in the hold." She said that the woman at the gate wasn't willing to do it.

So we spoke to the woman at the gate and she was unwilling to put the bag in the hold. So my mother came to me again and I told her to go back to her and say that I told her to put the bag in the hold and she can call me and confirm that's what I said. So my mother came back and said that she called me and I told her to put the bag in the hold, which she did.

I'm not one to complain, but this was a bad experience. My mother was scared that she would miss her flight and she was willing to throw away her bag. I mean, it wasn't a big bag, it was one of those esky bags, but I can't believe they wouldn't just put the bag in the hold. Thank god I was there. I don't know what would have happened if I wasn't there.
