I'm disappointed in online communities

I've liked anime and manga for years, for the most part I think they're good. However, the online communities that I've joined have been a huge letdown. Chambers, Twitter, and Instagram have been filled with people who are hypocritical and just plain cruel. I've seen people who claim to be fans of anime be horrible to others. <br><br>I don't believe the anime community is a welcoming place to new fans because online there are so many gatekeepers. The community is hypocritical online as well. <br><br>I don't think anime fans are terrible people, but the online communities are not the best. It's one of the reasons I stay off Twitter and my Instagram is private and I only follow less than 20 people.
