What are your favorite books to read for learning Chinese?

I'm a beginner and currently working on reading some characters but I've found that reading in the target language helps me to get used to reading the characters and improves my vocabulary. I'm especially looking for some general fiction since I don't want to go down the route of reading textbooks and I want to be able to enjoy myself as much as possible. Any suggestions would be really nice.
