Friend Finder App

Hello<br><br>I was reading an old Chambers post about a friend finder app (cheers for that!) and I just wondered if anyone has done this yet or if anyone has any thoughts on the idea<br><br>The core concept is simple:<br><br>• Sign up to the app with your social media subscriptions that you use most frequently<br><br>I would ask the below questions to make it a little more specific and more personal to your own interests:<br><br>• What activities do you enjoy doing alone (you might need different kinds of friends for different activities)<br><br>• What activities do you enjoy doing with friends<br><br>• Do you prefer group activities or solo activities with 1 friend at a time?<br><br>• What is your location and your willingness to travel for friends?<br><br>The idea is to be connected with people in your area who enjoy the same things as you and like interacting with friends in the same way as you<br><br>• The app should also ask what is your current relationship status - are you a mature student with a young child looking for friends that you might be able to plan activities that are fun for yourself and also suitable for kids? Or are you looking for people to go on dates with? Or are you looking for friends at work?<br><br>• Do you have a partner or other friends already? What are they like? Connecting you with people who already have friends that know your friends seems like a strong place to start<br><br>It should also ask for the users intentions - are they looking for deep meaningful conversations? Or are they looking for more superficial friendships?<br><br>Using location data from FB and Instagram - location history from Google<br><br>Interests from FB and Instagram, recent posts from Twitter<br><br>Photos from Instagram<br><br>It should be able to map people in your area with similar interests and hobbies and let you know about them<br><br>This can also be done geographically<br><br>i.e. bring up a map of your local area and find other people with similar interests in your area<br><br>You can select a new location on the map to find people in other areas and adjust the radius accordingly<br><br>There should be an option to search for specific people<br><br>Using twitter topics it can suggest people who like the same things as you<br><br>The privacy terms of the app should include details on data protection and usage - i.e. your data will not be shared with any external bodies and is for internal use only<br><br>Not sure what the legalities are here but it’s possible that you don’t need to access all of your data<br><br>Possibly there might be opportunities with the likes of LinkedIn - not everyone wants to connect with their work colleagues but you might want to connect with people who work in the same field as you and who have the same interests as you<br><br>The app should also include an option for 1 on 1 or group messaging<br><br>It could also include an events section where people can post about upcoming events in their area and you can let them know if you’re interested in going along<br><br>What do people think?
