Yeehaw I'm currently in Texas and I'm having an amazing time. But, how do Texans use these goddamn faucets?

I swear to God I read the instructions, and they're simple enough. Pull the handle down, the water comes, let go, the water turns off. But, somehow, I'm just not able to follow them. Every time there's no water, but I can hear something from the pipes.

Then, when I pull the handle down and it works, the water stays on even when I let go. Does anyone have an idea what's wrong? I've had this same issue in 2 different hotels.

Edit: I've never encountered this before in my life. It doesn't bother me that much, but, I just want to know if it's in my head, or are these faucets actually weird?

Edit 2: I'm sorry for the rant, people. You have helped me a lot (I used 2 different handles without any problem), and I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I was also very confused because the hotel in Austin had normal faucets, but the 2 hotels in Houston had these. I feel bad now for not having taken pictures for you to see the handles. I wasn't prepared for this much interest.

Edit 3: I'm glad you all are passionate about this, but, I'm OK. Thank you for the responses. I'm glad I'm not going crazy.

Edit 4: I'm glad that this made you laugh. I learned something today, and I'll probably be able to recognize these more often now, and that's good. Don't fight each other. Thank you to those who responded.

Edit 5: This post was my gift to you all. You are welcome.
