I just went through one of the most stressful weeks of my life and everything is fine.

I was visiting my family in Brazil with my partner to have Christmas together. We were staying in my dads apartment and had a spare bedroom for us. I was flying back on December 28th and my partner was staying one more day.

On the 26th, I woke up to my dad telling me to pack up everything I had because he was being evicted from the apartment, and all of my stuff needed to be thrown out or taken with me because he wasn't going to have anywhere to put it anymore. So I frantically packed up everything in my room and any other stuff I had in the house while my dad was packing up his stuff. I left a very expensive pair of headphones in the bathroom and was able to get them before we left, but it was so stressful. We went to my aunts house and I spent the night there. We slept on the floor and in the morning us and my dad took a bus to the station so we could all go our own ways.

I left for the airport in the afternoon and my partner left for another family members house. When I arrived at the airport, my flight had been cancelled and I was rebooked for 6 am the next day. Tired and with no where to go I decided to sleep in the airport and left a very worried voice message to my partner telling her what had happened. I was woken up by someone sweeping the floor at 4 am, brushed my teeth, had an expensive breakfast at a restaurant in the airport and got to my gate just in time. Got on the plane and had a completely normal flight. I was so worried that my luggage was going to be missing but I was relieved to see it after going through customs.

I got to my car and when I was about to leave the parking lot the credit card machine wasn't working, so they told me to pay in cash. I didn't have cash, so I had to walk to an ATM at the airport and walk back to pay in cash. Got home, had a great nights sleep and everything is fine.

What a fucking week. I am so grateful to be home and safe and I will never forget this week. I am so grateful to have an aunt who took us in and for the fact that I was able to get on a plane and leave. I have been renting for the past 2 years and I feel like events like this remind me to not take anything for granted.
