I am Japanese who grew up in Japan and watched anime as a kid, but recently I found western animation is simply better than anime in many ways and I am struggling to watch anime after watching western animation.

Anime was my favorite thing to watch when I was a kid, but now after watching a lot of western animation like Adventure Time, Regular Show, OK K.O., Disenchantment and stuff I cannot watch anime anymore. Almost all anime seems cringy in comparison to Western animation. I want to like anime but I just cannot. I don’t understand what’s going on with me, I grew up with anime and loved it. I’m very confused. I’m starting to feel that anime has many problems including ignorance of western animation for example most anime creators don’t even consider the existence of western animation, anime creators are very ignorant of western animation and they mostly don’t care about what western animation creators think about anime, they mostly care about what Japanese think. I think anime creators need to open their eyes to the world because what they are doing is not the only thing in the world. Also, anime is full of cringe including cringe waifus with big breasts and cringy manga references etc etc. I’m very tired of anime for many reasons.<br><br>Edit: With western animation I mean animated shows for adults. Not cartoons for kids. I also am not saying all western animations are better than anime but at least for me personally many western animations are better than anime. Please stop creating a strawman and attacking it. Also, stop creating Caricatures. Stop projecting your hatred towards western countries. I am Japanese who loves Japan and grew up with anime but started to hate it recently. Stop creating a strawman that I am white American who is an anti-Japanese racist.<br><br>I don’t understand why some of you are blaming me for expressing myself. I grew up with anime and no one made me watch western animation. I started watching western animation because I wanted to. It’s just that, basically everything you do everyday and being proud of it doesn’t make it automatically better than others. That’s all I’m saying. Stop blaming me for expressing myself and stop attacking me for watching western animation.<br><br>Also, please stop saying I’m hating anime because it’s for kids and children. Growing up with anime is not wrong because anime is for kids. If that’s the case then anything for kids is bad. That’s not true. What’s wrong is that many of you don’t want to see other cultures and other countries just like you call western countries soshagei (wannabe western countries) and you look down on other countries. That’s the problem here. Stop looking down on western animation and other countries, just because you grew up with anime and just because it’s foreign. Not everything foreign is bad. Not everything Japanese is good. In fact, anime has a lot of problems. Fixing the problem is better than escaping into fantasyland.
