You know, it’s been a while since I was on this sub, but I wanted to let you all know about some shady ethics going on here.

I’m not sure all of you remember me, but I was here once and I came across some very shady behavior on this sub. Someone had posted a page from a book and the book had copyright information. They were an author working on their second book in a series. They wanted to know if the page was strong enough since they paid money to have someone do it for them. I believe they said they paid something like $100 for it.

Well, it looked terrible. It was done in a super common font, and the margins were not even done correctly. But the copyright information was not correct. The author paid for someone to do their interior design for them and they were given a page from another book.

I looked carefully at the page and saw the copyright information didn’t match the book or the author. I searched for the copyright information and quickly found that it went to a different book and author.

That’s when I realized that this person is taking books from other authors, removing identifying information, and selling them to unsuspecting authors. This is not only copyright infringement, but it’s also scamming.

Now, I’m not sure how common this is on Reddit. But I know you all are on here looking for critiques and advice. If you’re paying for services, be careful. It’s not worth getting sued over copyright infringement because someone else is scamming you.

Please let me know if I should share this somewhere else. Thank you.

Edit:

This was done on a different sub, but I wanted to share here for anyone that is paying for services. Thanks.

Edit:
I would like to add that if you want to pay for these services, I encourage you to do your research. Make sure the person you are paying is reputable and professional. Look at their history and see how long they have been working in the field. Make sure they answer all of your questions, and you understand everything about the process. And always read over the contract carefully before signing anything. And if you feel uncomfortable, you can always walk away.
