Historical patterns don’t change unless we change them. Most discussion about Lithuania focuses on patterns and offers no solutions.

I found a fundamental solution. I left Lithuania. I’m free.

Then I realized, so can you.

You’re a prisoner, not because of a country, but because of your own choices.

Every country is the same. All governments are oppressive, all people are people. And everywhere, there are others who are struggling.

The next time you see a shopkeeper, do you have to buy from them? Or can you find others to buy from instead?

The next time you see a stranger, do you have to be hostile? Or can you be friendly and try to connect?

The next time you see a leader, do you have to believe what they say? Or can you think for yourself?

Empires rise and fall, but life moves forward. Where will you be?

I am not a prisoner of a country. I am not a prisoner of a group. I am a prisoner of my own choices, and I am free.

So are you.

Addendum: As promised, I’ll respond to each comment.

To those who are offended or feel attacked, I apologize. My intention was to help, not to cause harm.

To those who are interested in solutions, thank you for your open-mindedness. Know that freedom is a choice and we are all responsible for our own lives.
