Banned app domain! Be careful

I was browsing this app when it suddenly popped up a site and browser screen saying that my browser/Internet is banned because I was using a pirated app. I have to pay $500 to have my connection unbanned Or I can use this link click app QR scanner to upgrade my app or something.<br><br>It looked shady to me so I immediately closed the browser and turned off my data. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid but I wanted to share this with you all to make you aware.
