How and when does the pay gap between those with higher education stop growing?

I am unsure about whether I should incure the debt of a (non tech) degree and am looking for more information on how it plays out in this question of payroll. <br>I have heard that the difference in salary between those with higher education and those without it decreases over time. What are the reasons behind this? I assume that those high paying jobs with high education also have a high burnout rate which would be the main cause of early retirement and thus the closing of the gap. Do you know of any studies on this? At what age does it start to close for non tech jobs. Is it realistic to save the difference between lower education and higher education in the first 10 years of work and somewhat close the gap (assuming early retirement is not a major issue in the high paying higher education jobs)?
