What is the correlation between the constructs of race and gender?

In my own research of the constructs of race and gender, I've noticed that the similarities between the two constructs are vast. Within both systems there is a hierarchal ordering constructs. A racial ordering in which whiteness is at the top, and an ordering of gender in which maleness is at the top. There is also societal constructs that force people to fit neatly into either one category or the other. A black man can't be white, and a man can't be a woman. There is also constructs of privilege, where if a white man is at the top of both hierarchies, then he constructs the most privilege. A black woman, who is at the bottom of both hierarchies constructs the least amount of privilege. Within the both constructs there is also an "othering" of those who can't fit neatly into the binary. Like those who are middle eastern, or those who are non-binary. I feel like the biggest difference in these constructs are that race has more legal repercussions than gender, but I'm not sure if that's entirely true. I know there are laws that give men and women different legal repercussions. I'd like to know if anyone has any other information or constructs about these systems that they'd like to share.

Edit: Thanks for the constructs guys. I meant to write correlation instead of constructs.
