CMV: You should never use the word "rapist" to describe someone when you have zero evidence that they have raped someone.

This got down voted to oblivion in the main off my chest page, so hopefully someone will be willing to engage.<br><br>I believe that the word "rapist" has a very powerful and very negative meaning, and thus you should never use the term to describe someone you know when you have absolutely zero evidence to suggest that they have raped someone.<br><br>I recently discovered that an ex of mine was raped (I'm a male), and I have been told that I should have "seen the warning signs" and should have known that this person had a history of sexual violence because of "the way they held themselves" and other similar comments.<br><br>It is wrong to use the word "rapist" to describe people because you don't like them, or because you think they are the kind of person that would rape someone. This is essentially a very serious (and possibly career ending) accusation you are placing on them with no evidence.<br><br>cmv.<br><br>Edit:<br><br>To the people saying I'm defending the accused rapist, I'm not sure where you're getting this from. What I'm saying is that it is unfair to essentially call someone a rapist based on zero evidence, and because you just don't like them as a person. <br><br>To the people saying rape culture is very much alive and is a problem. I very much agree, and I did not say otherwise. I'm saying it is unfair and often harmful to essentially accuse someone of serious crimes when you have zero evidence to back that up. <br><br>To the people saying that the only people defending this post are males like myself. I'm not sure why this matters, or why being male would necessarily make my argument invalid. (Please note, I'm not saying this is what you are saying, only how I understood your comment)<br><br>And finally for the people actually trying to change my view.
