A lot of people in this sub don't understand the concept of addiction.

This sub has sort of a schizoid disorder, even though the name of the sub is literally "drugs" and not "legal drugs" "banned drugs" "hard drugs" "soft drugs" it seems that most people in here think that anything that isn't illegal is not a drug and that addiction is only reserved for stuff like smack, crack and booze.
I don't know what percentage of the population this sub is but the amount of comments like "yeah I can take X drug at the weekend and not touch it during the week" is just insane to me, I don't know if these people have never had a real addiction or are just delusional and don't want to believe they have an addiction.
I'm pretty sure anyone who has had a real addiction knows how stupid these comments sound.

Addiction is an illness, no one chooses to be addicted, no addict wants to be an addict, addict are called addicts not choosers. (Yes I know this is a play on the words drug abuser/ drug chooser but whateva)
Addicts have addictive personalities and can get addicted to anything they find pleasure in, weather it's video games, shopping, working out, taking drugs etc... From my observations it seems that most people don't have addictive personalities so they think addicts choose to be addicted, they think addicts just need to choose to stop but they can't because they are stupid or weak willed.
I wish they would stop giving their take on addiction, it just shows how clueless and arrogant most people are.

Addiction is a spectrum, there is no black and white, either you're an addict or you're not, there is no in between.
This "either you're an addict or you're not" mentality is just found in people who have no idea what they're talking about.
There are different levels of addiction.
There people who have no issue with addiction, they can take drugs all day everyday and never develop an addiction.
There are people who don't get addicted easily but can still get a little bit addicted.
There are people who are completely addicted to something with no control over their addiction at all.

Personally I can get very addicted to recreational drugs very easily, I can also get a bit addictive to other things like video games and exercise.
For me it can be a little bit difficult to get sober from recreational drugs, it's not impossible but it's not just a matter of saying "oh I don't want to be a weed addict anymore", it's just a struggle for some people, but for me it's not too bad and I can overcome it, it's definitely not worth the struggle of constantly trying new drugs and getting addicted to each and everyone so I've given up on recreational drugs completely because of this reason.
For me it can be a lot harder to stop playing video games than to stop smoking weed.
I used to work out a lot and became sort of addicted to it, I would work out 8 days a week (no days off) and was obsessed.
I can't deal with proven addictive substances like nicotine and amphetamine because I know I'll get so addicted I won't be able to stop and I'll develop an insane addiction to it so I avoid it.
Even though I can get very addicted to things I don't think I have an addictive personality.

I know people who can just take recreational drugs on the weekend and not touch it during the week, not everyone in the world is like this, we all have different personalities, we all cope with stress, anxiety and depression differently, we all react differently to different things and we all have different tolerances to drugs.
Some can take drugs like xanax and klonopin and not get addicted, some people don't even get high off those drugs, some people can take them and get hooked instantly, does this make them weak willed?
Some people can take 1 drink and be fine, some people will develop a tolerance and start drinking more and more, eventually theyll need to drink all day everyday to function, does this make them weak willed?
Some people can take a hit of crack and not get addicted, some people can take a small amount and be instantly hooked, does this make them weak willed?

People take drugs for all kinds of reasons, it could be because they enjoy the high, it could be to get rid of a hangover, to feel better, to chill out, to be social, to mellow out, to focus, to be creative, to gain energy, to help them sleep, or it could be because they have an addiction and can't stop.
Whether someone takes drugs for a reason or takes drugs with no reason, it doesn't magically change the effects of the drug, doesn't change the addictiveness of the drug and it doesn't change the law.
So why do people in this sub always talk about weed and shrooms like they're completely not drugs, they have nothing in common with other drugs, they can't get you high and they can't get you addicted.
I'm not saying weed and shrooms are as addictive as crack or booze but people in this sub act like no one can get addicted to it, it's like they have never heard of the concept of addiction before, it's like they think because they're not addicted to it then no one can be addicted to something so clearly it's not an addictive substance.
I don't care how addictive weed and shrooms are in comparison to other drugs, the fact that people can get addicted to it is all that matters.
I don't care how addictive weed and shrooms are, addiction is an illness whether it's to weed, shrooms, crack, booze, video games, shopping, working out etc...
This sub can be pretty ignorant towards other addicts because they're so clueless, they think they're not addicts because they're not addicted to a "hard drug"
Do you know how insulting it is to an addict to tell them "yeah I can take X drug at the weekend and not touch it during the week?"
Do you know what goes through an addicts head when they read shit like "ну I'm gonna stop taking X drug now and not touch it for 2 months"
This sub really doesn't get it, they just don't get it.
They just see an addict as an addict, they don't see the person, they don't see how much they're struggling with their addiction, they don't care that addiction is an illness.
They just stigmatise addicts and think they're all the scum of the earth or something, they think addicts choose to be addicted and they think all addicts are bad people.
I don't think inmates should be given drugs but I think addicts should be given rehab.

This sub is full of people who have never had any experience with addiction and it really shows.
I hope you people never develop an addiction, you have no idea what it's liked to be an addict.
