I get a lot of messages about how I'm going to be lonely when I'm older. I think that people with kids are more likely to be lonely.

I'm a female in my mid-twenties. I have been certain I didn't want kids for years. I get a lot of messages from people I don't know on social media saying things like "it's okay not to want kids now but you will want kids one day." Or, "you're going to be so sad and lonely when you're older." I don't think they get people who are actually childfree by choice.

Married people get divorced. Parents can have their kids cut them out after they grow up. Childfree people can get divorced but we can't be ghosted by our parents. Pretty sure that's called emotional abuse.

Parents aren't immune to becoming disabled or chronically ill. Having kids won't stop people from having a stroke or breaking their back. Or inheriting a disease.

I just don't think having kids is a guarantee for happiness and fulfillment.
