Why do so many mothers deny their own children?

My grandchild is about two and a half years old. He is a very good kid, hardly gets ill and does not cry a lot. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with him.<br><br>But I'm wondering, how come there are so many mothers who deny their own children and disconnect from them so easily?
