Do you ever feel like the story of Adam and Eve is sexist?

It was Eve who ate the forbidden fruit, and therefore it was Eve's fault that we were all kicked out of the story of Eden. I get that the story of Adam and Eve is meant to illustrate our relationship to God and explain the story of original sin, but I find the way woman are portrayed in the story to be very sexist. If Adam and Eve are to be seen as equals, than why is it that Eve is the one to eat the fruit first? It makes me think of women's role in the church, where they are expected to be submissive. I am not religious, this is something I have been thinking about and would love to hear your thoughts. I am looking for women's perspectives.
