I've never understood the "communist countries suck" argument

I am a few thousand kilometers away from any communist country in Europe and I've never spoken to anyone from a communist country who doesn't do this shit due to scarcity in the first place. I'm living in an imperialist country that just opened up its borders to war refugees in the hope of realigning them for cheap labor. Why is it always so much of a problem when a random redditor for brains tells you about their "family in a communist country"? Do you think there's a lot of Cuban Americans, Venezuelan Europeans or Chinese West Africans?
