I didn’t know what guns were as a kid, whenever there was a shooting my mom would cry and say “How could they do that, what was going through their heads?” I asked her what she meant but she would always just shut it off.

I learned what guns were around 6th grade, but all my friends were talking about was school shootings. One day we got locked down at school because an active shooter was in the tri city area. It was terrifying, my principal made everyone stay quiet, if the shooter came to our classroom we would be sitting ducks. I was afraid to even breathe.

Not all guns are used for violence, I’m a proud gun owner. I’ve always loved the idea of target shooting. Yesterday I bought an AR-15 style airsoft gun for a game of airsoft. But whenever there’s an active shooter situation I’m terrified, I always think “What if he has a gun like mine?” There’s no way we could stop him.

Today I went to the shooting range for the first time, it was amazing. But whenever there’s an active shooter situation I’m terrified, I always think “What if he has a gun like mine?” There’s no way we could stop him.
