I haven’t spent a single dollar since November 1st (I did do a big stock up on nonperishables, but I’ve still managed to save about $60 of that and I still have $60 to go)

I’ve been able to do this by:

Eating food I already had, or going to a food pantry

Going to free events in my community

Cooking at home most of the time (I let myself go out to a cheap restaurant in Albany once, and had lunch with my sister once)

Being more mindful of my grocery shopping habits and trying not to impulse buy (I know this won’t be sustainable forever, but it’s been a good experience and will help me make better choices in the future)

This challenge has been really good for me and has forced me to think creatively and appreciate the little things. My financial advisor has been impressed and said I’m doing some stuff he should have thought of in his own budgeting process

Full disclosure I have spent money on groceries, gas, and bills but other than that I’ve been able to abstain from spending money (I haven’t even spent money on a single coffee since this challenge started, and coffee is one of my favorite things in the world)

I just wanted to share this because I think it’s cool, and maybe it can inspire you to make some smart choices when it comes to managing your finances so you can live a life more similar to how you want to live

Edit: I apologize if this post has caused any drama, that was not my intention. Thank you to everyone who has commented and reached out to me personally. I appreciate all the advice I have been given and I will reach out if I need anything. I am not trying to brag about my circumstances, I am just proud of myself for being able to accomplish this and I wanted to share that.
