… to figure out what your essentials like rent, insurance, cell phone bill, water, electricity, and food budget is first. <br><br>Take those costs out of the total money you have for the month and go from there for your disposable income. <br><br>So many times I see people post their income and note their expenses and not include food! <br><br>I think it’s another interesting way of seeing where you are with money and also to figure out what is disposable income. <br><br>I also think another interesting way to do it is to figure out your must pay expenses for the month and subtract those out from your income. (No loans.)<br><br>I also like to do a 50/30/20. <br><br>Let’s calculate a budget below:<br><br>$5000 per month in money. <br><br>You spend $1000 per month on groceries. <br><br>Let’s say $3000 is your must pay out expenses. <br><br>So 5000-3000-1000 is 1000. <br><br>This is 2 different ways of thinking about the same thing with different priorities and essential amounts. <br><br>You could also say this person needs to get a side hustle because 3000 may not represent all of their essentials.
