Israel's are secretly and officially homophobic. I'm gay and I thought it made sense to support the country because you're significantly less likely to be thrown off a building for being gay and openly gay in Israel. I just learned that Israel is part of the Middle East and half of the half of the country is part of the territory occupied by Palestine (the Middle East is known for being openly homophobic). That was a rude awakening. I know this information could've been found very easily but I never thought of that or did my research. Do you think it would make more sense to support another country that more heavily supports LGBTQ people? Or do you think the openly or semi openly gay of the territory could somehow overcome their internalized homophobia to create an openly gay and LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive society?
