I believe the 1619 Project is not only flawed but is actually against American values and history. The project tries to paint people who have never been educated on our history to believe that American values are inherently bad. It teaches that our entire country is built on slavery and that's just not true. We could argue that our way of life is not perfect and that's true but it's better than any other form of government. I'm not here to say that Slavery doesn't play a huge role in shaping our history, it does, way more so than most people will admit. However, the fact that everyone talks about slavery and no one is willing to learn about all of the good qualities America has is wrong. I don't want to be controversial and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think that we should have pride in our way of life. We can all be anti-slavery and know that it's a huge part of shaping our History but we can't let people think we should reject our way of life. We can all be anti-slavery and know that it's a huge part of shaping our History. We can't let people think we should reject our way of life. I'm glad I'm an American and that I get to live in this country. I know that there is still racism and that racism is wrong. I hope that you agree with me and if you disagree I would love to hear why. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Edit: I didn’t mean to say that all forms of government are bad. I know that there are many other good forms of government.

Edit: I also didn’t mean to say that slavery doesn’t play a huge roll in our history. I know it does and that it has shaped our country for good and for bad. I just don’t want people to think our way of life is inherently bad and that people shouldn’t take pride in being an American.
