What was it like to live in the year 1000?

The year 1000. It does not seem like much special when compared to the year 1001 or 985 but humans have a weird obsession with rounded numbers plus it is a nice checkpoint in history to look back on. What are your thoughts on how people lived during this time plus any notable events you think are worth mentioning.
