When I was little I would go to the park on the weekends with my mom. We go to this one park in particular and there would be this guy sitting on a bench. He would always wave to me when my mom and I walked by. I wave back and my mom would try to say hi but he wouldn’t say anything to her. He didn’t seem threatening to me, he wasn’t doing anything wrong. He would just smile and wave to me. My mom would make me stay closer to her when we saw him and she didn’t like how he was waving just to me and smiling. I wasn’t scared of him at all. I thought he was just being nice. I even told him hi one time but he ignored me and smiled and waved, but to my mom it seemed like he was waiting for me to talk to him so he could grab me or something.

This one time my mom left me on the swings for literally two minutes. She went to the restroom and when she came back, I was gone. I wasn’t on the slide or the merry go round or anywhere. She started screaming my name and looking everywhere and this man that always waves to me comes up to her and points down this path in the woods and my mom runs to find me. She finds me crying and scared. This man followed behind her to make sure she found me. She kneels on the ground with me and hugs me and this man says “I’m glad you found her. I saw someone take her. I followed to make sure he didn’t hurt her. I’m glad you found her when you did.” Then he just turns around and walks away. My mom would never take me to that park again. But she told me that she couldn’t bear to think of what would have happened if that man wasn’t there.
