A man in my area was found guilty of ordering expensive dishes at a restaurant, not paying the bill and getting a free date. This happened multiple times in restaurants all over the country. He doesn’t pay because he knows he is about to get caught and he has no intention of paying the bill. The man is a millionaire yet he goes on dates, doesn’t pay for the food and leaves his dates with the bill. It takes months for the police to catch up with him and by that time he has already left the country and is in another country where he continues to do the same thing. The man was in jail for a year and then released.

No, I am not quoting this from a newspaper article, this is just my summary of what I read on the news. I don’t know how true it is but the article was in a paper in Australia that is known for it’s accuracy so I would say it is very likely true.

Your date doesn’t have to be a millionaire to not pay the bill. Your date could have found a cheap restaurant but took you to a restaurant out of your price range because he knows he isn’t going to pay the bill. The worst case scenario is that you get a free meal and someone gets arrested and charged.

What’s the worst that can happen? If he doesn’t pay the bill, you will also be charged for stealing food because you were also eating the food that he bought. So, not only could you get a criminal record, you could also go to jail. This will also affect your career. Nobody wants to hire someone with a criminal record. It’s better to not go on a date at all then it is to go on a date with a criminal and end up with a criminal record.

The best case scenario is that he doesn’t pay the bill and you don’t get charged for eating the food. If this is what happens then you got a free meal. Is the free meal worth getting arrested, charged and convicted? If you get arrested, charged and convicted then that will follow you around for the rest of your life. So, is a free meal worth ruining your life for?

If you want something cheap, go to a cheap restaurant. I don’t eat at expensive restaurants because I am frugal and I always go for the cheap option. But I have never been to a restaurant and ordered food knowing I didn’t intend on paying for it. I don’t know if anyone would actually do that but I wouldn’t.

Is there anyone who would actually do this? Go on a date and have a meal knowing they don’t intend on paying for it?
