A study finds that vulnerable software is rife across the web, leaving websites, apps open to cyber attacks<br><br>Hackers want to exploit vulnerabilities in open-source software to hijack websites and web servers<br><br>Over half of the most popular websites globally are at risk of being hacked due to vulnerable software, according to a new report. And open-source software is primarily to blame.<br><br>The study from Synopsys, a software firm that’s been looking into security issues for a few years, found that vulnerable software is common across the web. That leaves websites and servers open to cyber attacks from hackers.<br><br>Just last weekend, Apple allowed iPhone apps to access default Spotlight search, and it was the most popular app then. Sophos who monitors it, was quick to announce that these apps are apparently ‘causing problems due to vulnerabilities’, which resulted in it being completely removed. How odd that they had extended access to default Spotlight search to begin with.
