Why do people (parents, etc) think it's so easy to be a teacher?

Was discussing this with a coworker today.

Parents who have never taught before pull their kids out of public school to homeschool and they think it's going to be (1) super fun (2) super easy because they're already used to parenting kids.

It's not. They quickly burn out, and the kids suffer. (Like, I've heard of parents literally just sending them to a room to watch a movie all day). (Like, not every kid's parents will do this or do this at all, but just giving an example)

Why do people think it's so easy to be a teacher? It's literally one of the hardest jobs ever. I'm not going to say it's the number one hardest job or anything... I'm just saying it's really really hard.

Why do people under-value the work that teachers do?!
