Have you been in a scenario where you had to choose between your dignity or your safety?

I just got out of a situation where a man was harassing me and I was the only woman around, I had to choose between either standing up for myself or choose my safety, I told the men around me and they got him to back off but the whole time I had the sinking feeling that if I had stood up for myself I would’ve been seen as “overreacting” or even worse things could’ve happened if I had stood up for myself. I just feel like women have to be put in these situations where we have to choose between being disrespected or being safe, it’s just exhausting and I’m sick of it
