This chamber inspired me to do more with food scraps to reduce waste and save money! Here's a list of things I use now:

I am not a perfect "no waste" cook but I have definitely made a ton of changes in the past 2 years and this sub has inspired me to do more.<br><br>My son is 2 now so I save a lot of his uneaten food for future meals and I can freeze breastmilk in bags and use it for future soups. I also have a small garden so I can compost and use the compost for the garden. <br><br>Here is a list of things I use now that I didn't before:<br><br>- Carrot, celery, and onion peels - save to make chicken broth<br><br>- Veggie scraps - save to make broth or stock for soups<br><br>- Old milk and cream that's close to expiration - make cheese or butter<br><br>- Old celery and onions - make broth or soup with<br><br>- Old breastmilk - use in soups or make cheese for my son<br><br>- Old or mushy fruit - make smoothies, muffins, or bread<br><br>- Old apples or pears - make pies or crisp or chop up for oatmeal<br><br>- Potato peels - save to make gnocchi<br><br>- Leftover rice - make fried rice<br><br>- Leftover pasta - make mac and cheese or fritters<br><br>- Leftover bread - make croutons or bread pudding<br><br>- Leftover buns - make croutons or bread pudding<br><br>- Leftover sandwiches - cut up and freeze for lunch on the go or cut up and put in a wrap for a different meal<br><br>- Leftover veggies - make soup or stirfry<br><br>- Leftover beans or grains - make fried rice or chicken or veggie burgers<br><br>- Leftover roast dinner - make soup, stew, fajitas, or pot pies<br><br>- Leftover pasta sauce - make lasagna, pizza, or freeze for future use<br><br>- Leftover chicken or beef broth - make soups or rice<br><br>- Leftover cheese - crumble and freeze for future meals<br><br>- Leftover dinners - freeze for future meals and use as a quick meal when in a rush<br><br>- Leftover cheese rinds - save to make cheese broth<br><br>- Leftover butter wrappers - save to grease pans<br><br>- Leftover whey from cheese making - make soup, bread, or cheese crackers<br><br>- Leftover dinners that my son doesn't finish - freeze for future meals for him<br><br>- Old herbs - chop up and put in olive oil or butter to make flavoured oils and butters<br><br>- Leftover egg and milk - make cottage cheese<br><br>- Old carrots - throw in to soups or stews<br><br>- Old potatoes - throw in to soups or stews<br><br>- Old sweet potatoes - throw in to soups or stews<br><br>- Old winter squash - chop up and freeze for future soups<br><br>- Old bagels - make croutons or bagel sandwiches<br><br>- Old cream - make butter and cheese<br><br>- Old or crushed crackers - make croutons<br><br>- Old or crushed chips or crackers - crush up and use as a crunchy coating for chicken or breaded cheese products<br><br>- Leftover spreads - fill a cake or pastries<br><br>- Leftover cheese curds - save to make cheese crackers or cheese soup<br><br>- Leftover eggs - pickle them for future use<br><br>- Leftover chicken or beef bones - make broth or freeze for future soups<br><br><br>EDIT: For those of you asking how I store things, I put most of them in plastic containers or bags and put them in the fridge or freezer. Some things like cheese rinds and scraps I keep in a bag in the fridge for a few weeks before making broth. I also keep some things like veggie scraps on the counter in a bag or container and add to it as I use things and then I make broth when the bag is full.
