Racism is also one of the biggest issues that society needs to address today. Many people believe that racism can only be addressed through affirmative action and legal protections, but not only have they failed to solve the problem, but also created more issues. The first reason we should ditch such laws is that it will put a stop to the hypocrisy regarding legal protections. If someone discriminates against a black person, they can be held liable and be also held legally accountable. However, if someone is discriminating against a white person, it doesn’t matter. Thus, it creates a hierarchy and an imbalance of power. However, if we got rid of such laws, it would end such imbalances and hypocrisy. Another reason is that such laws are prone to abuse. If a black man tried to murder a white man, but the white man successfully defends himself, only the white man will be held accountable because of laws protecting the black man because he’s black. Thus, the black man is partially above the law. However, if we got rid of such laws, then that wouldn’t be the case anymore. The last reason is that it is impossible to implement on a large scale. Laws will need to account for every race, and every combination of races. Thus, the laws can never be perfect as there is always going to be something that doesn’t make sense. Thus, the concept is flawed and should be dumped.
