I’ve been married to my lovely husband Ed (37) for ten years last week. We have two kids together (6) and are well-off financially. He’s a great husband and I couldn’t be more proud of him, especially with his love and care for our children. Although he has some big flaws, I could forgive him anytime for anything up until now.

The first day we met I was very much attracted to him. By my own judgement, Ed was not the most attractive man to look at. He never really cared much about his grooming and this was reflected in his appearance. He was always a bit overweight and had an awful comb over. There was something about him that really drew me to him. He was incredibly sweet and had an amazing personality. There was nothing he couldn’t help me with and I loved how he treated me. By the time we were getting serious in our relationship, I could see that every woman I knew loved him. Everyone at work wanted to jerk off to him; every girl at school had a crush on him. He had something that really attracted people to him.

When we got married, he was still overweight and had a poorly maintained comb over. I didn’t care that he was overweight, and I deeply cared for him. After a couple of years after marriage, I began to notice when I’d be with him, people would look at him, smiling and laughing. I couldn’t understand why. And then I noticed he was smiling back at them and laughing at them. He was doing this to anyone who caught his eye, and he knew that every woman was attracted to him. Then one day I was walking by him in the room and I saw that he had logged onto his computer and had a dating app on it. I could see that he was messaging a woman and they looked really serious about dating. When he woke up, he logged back onto his computer. This had gone on for months.

These events were repeating themselves the entire time we were married. I noticed him feeling me up when we were out in public, smiling at the other women as they smiled at him, laughing with them and chatting with them and more. I noticed this when he opened up to me. He told me that he’s really attracted to a lot of women. He told me he loved me but he couldn’t help himself when he’s around other women. I asked him if he was cheating on me and he said I shouldn’t worry about it. He said he was joking about cheating on me and it was all just in good fun. I asked him again if he’d ever actually cheated. He said that he had.

The couple times that Ed had cheated on me, he had done so discreetly. He was smart about it and no one knew. We had a happy experience in the bedroom and I would never have noticed if he didn’t tell me. He said he was sorry for it but he couldn’t help himself. I told him that I couldn’t help myself and that I was in love with another man. He asked who and I told him it was the grocery store clerk. Ed didn’t take me seriously. And then the following week every time we were at the grocery store, the grocery clerk was with Ed. He was showing him around the store and Ed was constantly showing him around and chatting with him. The grocery clerk was obviously very attracted to my husband as he would stare at him and smile. I noticed that Ed was smiling at him too and laughing with him as he would with the women.

Ed would openly admit that he was a compulsive liar, cheater and manipulator. He said that he can’t help himself around other people. He would try to manipulate people by saying things they would want to hear. When Ed would try to get people to do things that were bad for them, he’d ignore my opinion and try to manipulate me into telling him that I would want him to do it. He’d laugh at me when I begged him not to do it. He’d joke about cheating on me when I was around but then really do it when I was gone. He would try to manipulate me into letting him do things I didn’t want him to do. He would tell me to do whatever he wanted because I was his wife. And I’d always let him.

Ed openly admitted that he stole people’s money and their personal items. He would steal their food and their clothes. He said there was no reason not to steal from people. He said that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and that he was going to help both by robbing them blind. He said he would steal as much as he could and take everything he could get from them and they wouldn’t even know about it. Whenever we were out, he’d try to steal people’s money and personal items from them. He would go around behind their backs when they weren’t looking and take their things. He told me to do the same and I’d always let him.

I ignore everything he says and does because I’m afraid that I’ll lose him. He’s the best husband I’ll ever have and I don’t know what I would do without him. I’m afraid to ask him to stop cheating so he’ll just keep on cheating. But Ed is the love of my life and I’ll never divorce him.

CMV: When Husband Jokes About Cheating He’s Cheating
