How to not get targeted by a mass shooter?

Mass shooters are a common occurrence in my country. Not once have I ever been in a situation where a mass shooter is present but how would you avoid being killed in this situation? What do you do? I never have been in a situation like that ever before but I don't want to die at a school vigil
