I think my mom’s neighbors are dead

Odd title I know, but I promise this will be worth it. My mom lives in a town house. It’s a pretty nice neighborhood and everyone keeps their homes tidy. <br><br>I’ve always been a bit of a people watcher. I mean I’m no wannabe detective like some people *cough* *Caroline Calloway* *cough*, but I’ve always been interested in my neighbors. This is important later on, because I’ve always been the type of person to notice little quirks in people and their behaviors. <br><br>So there’s this one woman who lives next to my mom, and she’s always been a bit strange. Very very quiet, and she never really talks to anyone. My mom has tried to be friendly with her, and so has pretty much everyone else on the street, but she just doesn’t seem to be interested in other people. Like I said, she’s always been pretty quiet, but she really keeps herself to herself. <br><br>I’ve always thought it was a bit weird how she keeps her blinds closed almost all the time, even when it’s sunny. Now I know that might seem like nothing, but every house on the street has a pretty big window in the living room. And my mom’s house is no exception. We never close the blinds because it’s nice to have the sunlight coming in. And the neighbors on either side of my mom have the same view as us, so I would guess that woman’s house also has a large window in the living room. <br><br>I bring all this up, because the blinds have been closed for almost two months now. We’ve had some really nice weather, and I think it’s a bit strange that she’s had them closed this whole time. Like I said, I’m a bit of a people watcher, and I tend to notice people’s behaviors. And I’ve never seen her open the blinds in the living room. <br><br>There’s more though. When I said her blinds were closed almost all the time, I meant it. The blinds for the entire house are almost always closed. I’ve noticed that the blinds for her kitchen are open some mornings, but they’re always closed again by like 10.00. I find it a bit strange that she only opens her blinds for about an hour everyday. It’s a bit strange if you ask me. <br><br>But here’s the strangest part. The woman and her husband used to go for walks together. Like clockwork, every Saturday afternoon they would go for a walk around town. And they would always be dressed up in nice clothes. I assumed they were going to some sort of potluck or something, because it was noticeable how well they would dress. But they haven’t gone on a walk like that in a long time. <br><br>In fact, I haven’t seen the husband in a very long time. I think it’s been months since he’s left the house. I’ve seen him in the backyard before, but he hasn’t left the house in a long time. <br><br>Here’s what I think: she’s killed him. And she’s trying to cover it up by not leaving the house. I’ve never seen her have any guests, so it must be getting boring to just be by yourself all the time. And I think that’s why she opened the blinds for an hour in the morning. She wants to feel like she’s still got some connection to the outside world, even though she’s alone now. <br><br>And I know this probably sounds stupid to some of you, but I think she’s trying to avoid any suspicion. I’ve never seen her open the curtains, except for the blinds in the kitchen like I mentioned earlier. But I think she’s opened the curtains at night, and that’s why I think she’s trying to make it look like he’s still in the house. She wants people to think he’s still alive. <br><br>I’ve seen the curtains open and then close again a few times. I’m sure it was her husband, just walking past the window and the light from the floor lamp made it look like the curtains were open. But it was probably her. <br><br>There’s one more thing. When they used to go on their walks, they would always walk down the street away from my mom’s house. And that’s a pretty long walk, because there’s a lot of houses on that side. But for the past few months, she’s been walking in the direction of my mom’s house. And she doesn’t walk down the street as far as she used to. But I don’t think she’s trying to get some exercise. <br><br>I feel bad saying this, because she’s my mom’s neighbor. But I don’t think he’s alive anymore. <br><br>And I think she’s trying to dispose of his body by burying it in the park. <br><br>That sounds crazy, but hear me out. She used to walk pretty far down the street. But now, after she passes my mom’s house she only walks for about half a block. And then she turns into the park near our neighborhood. <br><br>She then walks along the path and then she’s out of sight. I don’t know what she does once she’s out of sight, but I think she’s digging holes at night. <br><br>I think she’s trying to bury her husband under the cover of darkness, and then she’s using her walks in the daytime as an excuse to survey the area and make sure the graves are safe. <br><br>And that’s why I think she’s been opening her curtains at night. She’s trying to make it look like he’s still alive, so no one suspects anything. <br><br>I feel like the police would never believe me though. <br><br>And I’m not about to go patrolling the neighborhood at night, just to snoop on my mom’s neighbor. <br><br>I just thought this would be an interesting story, because it’s a strange coincidence if he’s not dead.
