CMV: The NBA is pathetic for moving their All Star Game due to Georgia’s new voting laws.

I’m not American, but this seems like a pretty over the top response to me. Georgia’s voting laws are being portrayed as the most voter suppressive laws we’ve ever seen in the history of the United States, but I think a neutral third party can see that this is clearly hyperbole. The laws are indeed more strict than the laws that existed last year, but that’s because last year wasn’t exactly a normal year. They had to come up with an entirely new system of voting on a short time frame do to the pandemic. The rules weren’t even really rules, they were whatever the various county and city directors decided to do on the fly.

The laws in Georgia now are not as strict as several States that are controlled by Democrats.

And let’s be real, the NBA’s stance here is so inconsistent. The NBA stands behind China despite them having actual forced labor camps for Uighur’s, and the NBA has actually censored it’s own players for speaking out against China’s human rights abuses, but now the NBA needs to move their All Star game because of Georgia’s voting laws. They’ve also been fully behind having their games played in China, despite the fact that China is guilty of far worse crimes then anything the State of Georgia has done. China has killed millions of people over the last century and is guilty of actual forced labor, genocide, and slavery. I, as a neutral party, can see that China is actually a very evil place, and the NBA’s continued support of that nation is pathetic and hypocritical.

That’s my opinion anyway. Can you change my view?
