After the things I've seen in the past 2 months, I'm considering leaving my school district. I've never been so embarrassed to be a teacher. What's happening?

Our school district has recently changed superintendents, and it appears that the new one is taking over and is very conservative.

We have a training tomorrow for teachers to see if we "passed" or "failed" the training. I've heard that the failed teachers are being told that the training is "mandatory" and that if they don't complete it (by the end of the month) they may lose their jobs. It seems that this "training" is centered around being "impartial" and "not teaching CRT." I heard that the training begins with a 3rd-party presentation that says something like "I'm not comfortable teaching [insert topic here] because of [content]. I'm unlikely to teach [content] in the future."

One of my colleagues was removed from the classroom earlier this week because he gave a lecture on the LGBTQ movement. To be fair, the lecture was taken out of context by parents. But I'm starting to think that one misstep into the "wrong" area of content will end up with me being removed. I've seen so many teachers being fired after being taken out of context. I'm honestly afraid to return for training tomorrow. I already know what is going to happen. And the kids are suffering for it.

Our school has about 500 students and two English classes. One is a remedial class with a very inexperienced teacher. The other has 50 students and it's me. One of my friend's schools has 5 English classes for the same amount of students. They have a more experienced staff, but it seems like everyone in my school is so much busier than they are. I like working with remedial students, but with so many students it's hard to make sure that those who desperately need extra help get what they need.

I'm not sure what else to do, especially because I know my school district is not the only district in the United States suffering. What in the world is happening? Are there things that I can do to help?
