Now that I’ve broken up with my girlfriend I’ve been trying to move on and not look at her social media accounts. I didn’t delete her on my socials because we’re still friends but it’s been hard not to stalk her.

That’s when I had an idea for a browser extension that stops you from looking at your ex on social media. What the extension does is that it uses a block site type of software to block your ex’s profile on certain social media apps. The catch is that in order to unblock your ex’s profile, you have to give out your credit card details (like you would on a subscription service) and if you can’t resist looking at your ex’s profile you will be charged a certain amount of money (like $10 or something).

So for example if you’re trying to move on from your ex and you try to go on their Instagram profile, the extension will block it and say something like “Are you sure you want to look at their profile? You will be charged $10 if you do.” If you thought about it you could just install and uninstall the extension but uninstalling the extension doesn’t immediately get rid of the block, the block only ends after 24 hours since you installed the extension.

So you have to really want to look at your ex’s social media to actually do it. You could also work around it by just using a different browser but the idea is that it’s a barrier to stop you from looking at your ex’s profile in the heat of the moment.
