Google shutters Stadia and attempts to return fans' money

Google is killing its cloud gaming app Stadia, citing poor reception.<br><br>The service had drawn criticism for lacking new games, high costs and poor controller latency.<br><br>"Players will continue to access their games library and play until 18 January next year when the service will be shut down", Google said.<br><br>The firm plans to refund all purchases made through Stadia and those with a Stadia Pro subscription will not be charged in November.<br><br>The news was announced by vice-president and general manager Phil Harrison.<br><br>"Stadia was built to allow people to access games whenever and wherever they want on their connected devices with the lowest latency and the highest quality," he wrote in a statement.<br><br>"It had a strong fan base, but failed to gain sufficient traction with users to support it and the underlying business."
