My friend is getting into programming. Any advice?

Hello.<br><br>My friend has recently expressed interest in programming. He's been watching YouTube videos and learning HTML (and CSS, I believe). With my experience with programming, I was thinking it would be nice if I helped him. I'm not sure what advice to give him though, as I've always been on the receiving end of programming advice, and I want to make sure that I give him the best possible advice.<br><br>What advice would you give to a beginner programmer? Any tips? Any learning resources?
