Is there a good, ethical reason why people are forced to hide their usernames when writing critique posts? I realize that it's intended to make people be more honest, but it serves the exact opposite function.

When I can't see a person's username, I can't see their full profile and I am stuck with the limited amount of information available on their main r/writing_critiques user page, which, quite frankly, is not much. If I have to swerve into multiple chambers at once to get a full idea of the kind of person who is critiquing my work, I am more likely to assume the worst.

In addition, I feel like anonymous critiques go directly against the goal of building a community. If the person I am critiquing is not willing to make themselves vulnerable by putting their name on their critique, I am less likely to accept it, both because I will be skeptical of anonymous users and because I don't want to reward cowardice. I am here to build a bond with people. I am here to connect with people who are interested in the same things I am. I am here because I like the idea of relying on others. And because I respect that kind of mindset, I always put my name on my critiques.

I don't think forcing anonymity is the right move, and I hope we will reconsider.
