What would be a good backstory for when telekinesis is first discovered?

I'm inspired by the idea of a person with telekinetic abilities being a bystander to a plane crash and being overcome with grief and a sense of powerlessness. In this grief stricken state, they use their telekinetic powers and lift the wreckage off of a surviving victim. Telekinesis is discovered after a medical helicopter comes to the scene and the crew sees a person lifting the wreckage off the victim.<br><br>This event would presumably be documented via helicopter cameras and be seen by millions on the internet and inspire a global manhunt for the person who was able to lift the plane wreckage off of the surviving victim.<br><br>This event would have significant implications on the social, political, economic, and scientific landscape of the world. I think this event would also have a big impact on the mindscape of individual people in this society, especially if this event was seen in real time or in a post event interview. What other backstory would you recommend for when telekinesis is discovered?<br><br>Would you recommend a different event for telekinetic powers to be discovered in?
