Professional sports is just that, professional. The owners of the teams are millionaires and billionaires, the players are millionaires and the league officials are also millionaires.

Professional sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA, and MLB have been increasing ticket prices for years, and it has gotten to the point where it is no longer cost efficient for fans to attend a game in person.

For example, according to Ticketmaster, the official ticket vendor for the NFL, the official ticket price for the Baltimore Ravens season opener against the Texans is $130. This is the official price for season ticket holders, and does not include the cost for parking.

Furthermore, the prices for food and drinks have skyrocketed in the last few years. A soda is $8, a hot dog is $10, and a beer is $10.

If a fan wants to attend a game, they would have to pay $130 for nosebleed seats, $20 for parking, $10 for a soda, and $10 for a hot dog. So that is $170 for one seat and no food. For a family of four to buy food, drinks, and tickets cost $600.

If you think that the NFL is expensive, baseball is worse and basketball is insane. The average ticket price for a NY Yankees game is $150, and the average price for a Goldenstate Warriors game is $170.

Furthermore, the prices for tickets on the aftermarkets are skyrocketing. Secondary ticket sellers such as StubHub, SeatGeek, and Vivid seats charge fees in addition to Face value cost of the ticket.

A $130 ticket from Ticketmaster can cost upwards of $250 per ticket on StubHub.

Here is the argument against going to and attending professional sporting events. Professional sports is expensive, and the owners of the teams are rich. Attending the game will cause you to go further into debt, and the owners don't care.

They are already rich, and don't need you to go further into debt just to support the team.

The owners of the teams get millions of dollars from TV contracts, sponsorships, season ticket holders, etc. so they don't actually need you to attend the game in order to make money.

Additionally, the players for the team are millionaires who don't care about you or your money. They will play the game whether or not you attend, because they are doing it for the money.

Therefore, in conclusion, it is not worth your money to go to professional sporting events.
