AITA for telling my parents that if they gift us money, it will go towards my student loan debt and not our down payment?

My fiance and I are planning to get married next year and we are also planning to find a house after we get married. My parents have suggested that they will give us some money as they have done for my other siblings to help with the down payment, but my student loans are pretty high and I told them that any money they give us will go to pay it down before it will go to the house. They had a problem with this and said that they want the money to stay in our family and not give it all to the bank so we are having a small argument now.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your comments, I'll add a few things here that I mentioned in the comments:

(1) I said any money that they give us would go to the student loans, if they were to ask us to not pay them back the money we got from them that would be different and was part of the original "deal".

(2) I said student loans because it's the biggest amount that we owe. My fiance has a car loan but that is just a few grand and we can pay that on our own.

(3) My parents also suggested that they would let us live in their house for a few years for free so that we can pay off the student loans faster. The problem is that it is not close to where we work (we would need 2 cars in that case as well) and we would essentially lose the freedom to do whatever we want because we would have to live with their rules in their house (no guests, limited use of the kitchen etc.)

(4) They fully paid for my college and gave me a new car after I graduated. The student loans are my wife's/fiance's
