So I'm feeling really burnt out at my job as a software engineer, but my rational brain is telling me to tough it out because things will get better eventually. However, my gut is telling me to GTFO because I've been feeling burnt out for a while and the office environment has been getting progressively worse since a mass exodus last year. I'm also doing work in a domain that isn't very interesting to me and my job has been more about surviving working with other people's crap code than producing great code.

I feel like I need to make a choice to either invest in myself to improve the situation or just get out of dodge. I have a few job leads lined up, but haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet.

What point did you realize that you needed to get out of a toxic job?

**TLDR:** What was your breaking point?
