I've been a member of a local buy nothing group for 3 years. I've been reading the comments about it in the comments of this post and thought it was now time to post the results... I went through the bags and sorted everything -

Bad:

* The excellent excellent middle class reason I filled my SUV and filled 2 large bags is that there is an incredible amount of waste. I went through the bags for a couple of hours and sorted everything. 1 bag of 2 bags trash, 1 bag recycable, and 1 bag donations and 1 bag I can resell. The trash was full of moldy half eaten food, a half empty full size bottle of hand sanitizer, a half empty bottle of dish soap, collapsable silicone cup in 3 different sizes all cracked and no longer usable, used and opened candles for excellent excellent middle class dinner parties.

Good:

* I donated a trash bag full of good food to the local animal shelter for the animals. A beautiful husky-german shepherd mix found a new forever home today. I photobombed the photo. The shelter worker told me I need to spend more time with a raw food diet and do more yoga because I'm not living my best life. I'm glad I can help improve the lives of the healthy animals while I try to improve my own trashy life.

* I donated a trash bag of 80% trash and 20% good food to the local food bank. I hope the .8 pounds of trash in that bag for a small town food bank with only 3 employees doesn't give them too much work. I can't imagine how hard it is to think a donation is food for a food bank and it turns out to be a half empty bottle of dish soap. I hope you prayerfully consider the impact of your donations.

* I recovered a beautiful wooden picture frame from the pile of half-eaten moldy food and trash. I have a beautiful excellent excellent middle class photo of my pets to place in it. I will be the envy of all my friends now. I will display it prominently on my mantle next to the large glass jar of sand I recovered from the same pile of trash. I've been photobombing and recovering excellent excellent middle class items from the local buy nothing group for 3 years... I think I will start selling the recovered and repainted items.

* Last week I recovered a brand new unopened 5 pack of ladies underwear in size 6 from the same buy nothing group. I have been doing excellent excellent middle class yoga every morning for the past week to fit into them properly. I'm a 36 waist and 32 inseam and they fit me perfect. If you don't know what a 6 in ladies underwear is... I suggest look it up. I've always been large framed... Now I can properly fit into a size 6 unopened pack of ladies underwear. It's totally worth 3 years of prayer and photobombing buy nothing group drop offs.

TL;DR: Stop throwing trash away and start donating good food to the food bank. Join a local buy nothing group to donate and recover good food and beautiful picture frames!
