I'm 24 years old, a UK citizen, living in the UK and have been trying to vote since the last election in 2019 but my name isn't on the electoral register. I went to see the electoral services officer at my local council office to ask about it and she told me I don't have ID.

In the UK to vote, you now need photo ID and proof of address to vote.

I have a driving license but it expired 6 years ago. I don't drive because I can't afford to hire a car to do my driving test and my grandmother who was helping me doesn't drive anymore.

I don't have a passport to travel. I've been to the airport once in my entire life, I don't have the funds to travel and my health isn't great enough to fly.

So I have been rejected from the electoral register because I don't have ID. I have to wait for the next local election to try and get my name on the register and that could be in 4 years.

This means that I, a citizen in the country, will not be able to vote until I am able to get ID. Which is a problem because the Tories are in power and the only way for me to get ID is for them to give me money to get ID.

So a political party is stopping me from being able to vote. Make it make sense.
