I'm a 33 year old nurse who's going to publish something like this because this is a sub where I can do this kind of thing without getting called crazy.

I work in a small hospital and my shift is always 11 pm to 7 am. This means most of my interactions are with the nurses who hand over the patients, security and the night cleaners.

One of the cleaners, a lady named Lisa, comes in around 2am. She's a friendly older lady who always makes sure to get some coffee and comes over to the nurses station for a chat.

Some 3-4 months ago, Lisa asked me if I was good with cats. I told her I was and she told me that a friend of hers had gone on a holiday a week ago and her cat hadn't been looked after. Apparently the cat was quite well known in the town I live in because it was an all black cat with bright orange eyes. Lisa explained that it was quite unusual, but when she showed me a picture of it, I just thought it was due to the photo.

A few days later, Lisa asked if me if I wanted to look after the cat while her friends' holiday continued. I told her I wasn't comfortable with that and she gave me the name and phone number of her friend so I could contact her myself. I still didn't bother to do it, there was something about the cat that gave me a strange feeling.

It turned out her holiday had been extended and Lisa was now *insisting* that I at least take a look at the cat and see if I could look after it. I told her I was worried about my landlord not allowing pets, but she just waved that off.

A week later, I finally decided to contact her friend. The lady seemed nice enough, she told me that I could look after her cat, but warned me that it was active at night which is why she didn't want to keep it in an animal shelter. If I agreed, I got the keys to her house and could adopt the cat if I wanted to.

I went over to the house, the cat was super friendly and loving. It even followed me around the house as I looked at it. If I had to describe it, I'd compare it to a shadow following me. I agreed to look after it and when I was leaving the house, I saw a note on the fridge with the following words.

*I have to go away for some time. If you want to keep yourself safe, don't talk to Cuddles at night.*

I crumpled up the note and thought nothing of it. The cat followed me to my car and rode in the passenger seat as I drove it to my house. I decided to set up a little bed for it in the living room and as I was trying to fall asleep, the cat came over my bed and started cuddling next to me. It was the friendliest creature I have ever encountered and I was truly starting to love it.

However, that night, I got woken up by the sound of meows. I looked at my alarm clock. It was 2:10 am. I ignored it and went back to sleep, but after a few minutes, the meows were back and this time they were like a cat was standing outside my window. I got up angrily, thinking stupid thoughts like "I shouldn't have let a goddamn animal in my house." I walked to the living room, where I was greeted by the bright orange eyes of the cat.

"I'm gonna kick you outside now you motherfucker." I said. The cat meowed back at me and I thought it was being sarcastic. It walked away and I followed it. It walked to my front door and scratched it a few times.

"Alright, I get it. Go outside already."

I opened the door and it left the house. I noticed that my neighbors were looking towards my house, all of them were standing in their yard and looking in my direction. I thought they were complaining about the noise from earlier, but when I tried to talk to them, they didn't respond.

I went back inside and when I turned around, I saw the cat was standing behind me. I wanted to scream, but something kept me from doing so. I stood still as the cat jumped up in my arms, it started purring and I could feel it's warmth. It was so comforting that for a second, I forgot that something strange had just happened.

However, when I looked at my alarm clock again, it was 2:10 am.

This continued happening for a few nights and it got to the point where I was starting to think that it was just a weird dream. But every time I saw the cat, I got the same warm feeling.

A week later, I was back at Lisa's house to get some more cat food. There were some photos on the fridge that I hadn't noticed before. It was Lisa and her friend and a little girl holding the cat. The girl must have been around 11 years old and I assumed it was Lisa's friend's daughter. The little girl who was holding the cat had the same bright orange eyes.

I didn't end up looking any further and instead took what I needed and left the house.

I was back home and the cat was back in my arms. It was so comforting and I loved it so much at this point. I'd do anything for it. It was 2:10 am and I was back trying to fall asleep.

I don't know how long I slept, but when I woke up, I was back at the nurses station. The other nurses were looking at me oddly, but I ignored them. When I looked at the clock, it was 2:10 am.
